Longtime Valley favorite El Chorro has hired veteran restaurateur Ryan Prentiss to serve as general manager. He will be responsible for directing restaurant operations, supervising the staff and leading the management team, including the restaurant's two assistant general managers.

"With Ryan's extensive experience in management and restaurant operations, we look forward to delivering an even better guest experience to our customers," said Operating Partner Kristy Moore.

Prentiss has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 10 years in roles ranging from cook to bartender to owner and franchisee. Prior to joining El Chorro, he served as the general manager at Famous Dave's BBQ and most recently as the general manager at RA Sushi. He was also the owner of a Dickies BBQ restaurant that was named the top franchise in the state.

About

About El Chorro

Dining on the patio at El Chorro along with its famed sticky-buns is a long-standing Phoenix tradition. Originally built in 1934 as the Judson School for Girls, El Chorro was converted to a restaurant and lodge in 1937. Located at the base of Camelback and Mummy Mountains, its iconic setting offers an authentic Arizona desert setting where generations of Valley residents and visitors alike come to savor classic, Southwestern-inspired cuisine. Clark Gable, John Wayne, Barry Goldwater and other prominent figures visited the Lodge in its early days. Following a careful and extensive renovation in 2010, today’s guests enjoy the restaurant’s legendary hospitality in a contemporary setting that maintains the historic El Chorro charm. Created by acclaimed Chef Charles Kassels, the menu specializes in dishes using fresh, organic and locally grown ingredients – including herbs and produce from the El Chorro garden located right outside the kitchen.

El Chorro is open daily for happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday brunch is served from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more visit www.elchorro.com.
